The cost of a B driving license depends on how many driving lessons you need, which courses you take, and what fees are charged by the authorities. Here we go through the cost items and show a clear calculation example of the school's part.
What affects the total cost of the driver's license?
- Number of driving lessons. This is the post that varies the most, because everyone needs different amounts of practice.
- Training: risk education (Risk 1 and Risk 2) and theory.
- Test: The Swedish Transport Administration charges for knowledge tests and driving tests, and you pay for each attempt.
- Fees to government agencies, including for driving license permits and the actual driving license itself.
- Medical certificate or eye examination certificate, if necessary.
- If you practice privately with a tutor, you may need fewer lessons at the driving school.

- Driving lesson (50 minutes): 995 kr per lesson when purchased in a package of 2–10 lessons.
- Registration and first driving lesson: 1,095 kr.

- Risk Tier 3: 3,795 kr.

- Digital study material: 1,500 kr.
- Starter package: 16,340 kr, including 10 driving lessons, Risk 1 and Risk 2, and online theory.
- Starter package Large: 21,315 kr, with 15 driving lessons.

Numerical example: the school's part with 15 driving lessons
This is a calculation example, not a price guarantee or an average. It just shows how the school's prices can be calculated and says nothing about how many lessons you actually need.
- Starter package: 16,340 kr (10 driving lessons of 50 minutes each, Risk 1 and Risk 2, online theory).
- Five additional driving lessons: 5 × 995 kr = 4,975 kr.
- Total for the school part: 16,340 + 4,975 = 21,315 kr for 15 driving lessons.
The total amount is the same as the price of the Stora starter package with 15 driving lessons, so the two methods of calculation give the same result. The lessons are not double counted. The example does not include the Traffic Authority tests, fees for driving license permits and driving licenses or any certificates, so it is not the total cost of the driving license.
