The knowledge test (theory test) for the B driving license consists of 70 questions, but only 65 of them give points. Here we go through how the test is structured, how many correct answers you need and how long you have to complete it.
There are so many questions on the theory exam
- The test has 70 questions.
- Five of the questions are not counted. The Traffic Agency uses them to develop the test, and you don't know which ones they are.
- The other questions give a maximum of 65 points.
- To pass, 52 points are required.
- You have 50 minutes.
How many mistakes can you have?
With 65 possible points and 52 points for passing, you will thus miss a maximum of 13 points. Since you do not know which five questions are not counted, it is best to answer all of them carefully.
How long does an approved knowledge test last?
An approved knowledge test is valid for one year for tests that have been completed starting August 19, 2026. You therefore need to take the driving test within that time period.
Cost and the next step
The testing fees are set by the Swedish Transport Administration and may change. Current fees can be found at The Swedish Transport Administration. If you want to know what the whole process of getting your driver's license costs, you can read our guide. How much does a driver's license cost?. The school's prices are available on The pricing side. If you're wondering how theory and driving are related, you'll find it under Driving Licence Path.
The data regarding the structure of the test is checked against the Swedish Transport Administration's information on October 13, 2026. Rules and tests may change, so always check the current information with the Swedish Transport Administration.
