The Road to a Driving Licence
1. APPLY FOR A DRIVING LICENCE PERMIT
The driving licence permit is a document certifying that you are allowed to practice driving. It is required for all licences except moped Class II and B96 (extended B licence). The licence must be approved before your first driving lesson. The Swedish Transport Agency will only process your application when the complete licence application has been registered. Instructions and information on how to proceed are clearly stated on the Swedish Transport Agency's website.
2. REGISTER AT THE DRIVING SCHOOL!
Book, call, email or drop by our driving school, and we will assist you with bookings and information.
During your first lesson, you will receive a detailed introduction to the training programme and its mandatory elements. You can also request a documented training plan with a cost estimate from your instructor. Keep in mind that driving licence training is individual, and plans may be adjusted as you progress.
3. RISK 1
A theoretical course covering alcohol and drugs, fatigue in traffic, and other high-risk behaviours. The course raises awareness of both your own and others' risk-taking behaviour and how these risks can be avoided. To complete the course successfully, you must participate actively in exercises, assignments, and discussions. We will notify the Swedish Transport Agency once you have passed.
The course lasts approximately three hours plus a break. We provide a sandwich and a drink.
4. PRACTICAL TRAINING
It's going to take blood, sweat and tears here! We will help you! Keep in mind that if you have the opportunity to do a lot of training with a tutor, often mum or dad, you won't have to drive as much with the driving school.
5. RISK 2
Before taking this course, you must have completed many hours of driving! Normally, you should have passed stages 1–9 before attending. This course focuses on speed, safety, high-risk situations, and driving in different road and weather conditions. By the end of the training, you should understand the risks of driving in challenging conditions, be aware of potential dangers, and recognise your own limitations. Skid track training is included in Risk 2.
6. THE SWEDISH TRANSPORT ADMINISTRATION (TRAFIKVERKET)
The final step to getting your very own driving licence is the visit to the Swedish Transport Administration. Here, you will take two exams: one theoretical and one practical. We at Björkstaden will help you succeed with both!
